Morning Routines

As many of you may have guessed from earlier posts, Mr. Twingle travels a lot.  That means I'm left home to take care of the three (3) kids and tackle each day's chores.

None of that would happen if I didn't have a good morning routine.  Okay, it doesn't even have to be good; it just has to be a routine.

Our alarm goes off at 7:00 am; thought it's rare that I actually need it.  At least one of the kids usually wakes around 6:50.  I get up and ask the twins to get themselves dressed with the clothes I laid out the night before.  I then head in to get the baby up, changed and dressed before heading downstairs to make breakfast.

I'm in the kitchen by about 7:15 am and I begin getting breakfast.  Most mornings the kids just want cold cereal or toast so it's quick and easy.  I give the baby some "O's" or a banana in her chair while I make lunches.

By about 7:30, lunches are packed and the kids are done breakfast.  They then pack up their backpacks with their lunches and agendas before using the washroom and brushing their teeth.

At 7:45 I get the three kids dressed in coats, hats, mitts and boots and we're out the door by 8:00 am.  The twins don't get bussed to school so I have to drive them as it would take about an hour to walk.

School begins at 8:25 and we usually arrive around 8:15 so the kids have some time to play.  Once the bell rings and the twins are inside the school; Pickle and I head home where I give her a bottle and make myself some breakfast.

Then we play together for a bit before her nap.

It all happens really fast and most of the time I don't even realize it's a routine; but, that's exactly what it is.

Would you believe that when Mr. Twingle is travelling we're never late for school; but, when he's home we often make it just as the bell rings?  It's like he throws a wrench in my well oiled machine and it takes a few days to work out the kinks.

  1. LOL I totally know what you mean that when your hubs is home, things don't always go according to routine. My hubs works in the evenings and on days that he's home, my whole entire evening/bedtime routine for the girls is totally thrown off and we're lucky if they get baths and to bed before 10.

    Happy New Year,
    Dawn
