Welcome to the year 2011!

Can you actually believe it?  I mean we're already 11 years into the 21st century and the millennium.  It's insane when you think about it.

Maybe I watched too many episodes of The Jetsons growing up; but, I thought we'd all be flying around in little space ships by now.

The issuing in of a new year often sees many people setting resolutions for the upcoming three hundred and sixty-five (365) days.  If you were to look up the word "resolution" in a dictionary, you would find that it's a noun with eight (8) possible meanings.  The meaning pertaining to New Year's is as follows:

"A New Year's resolution is a commitment to a personal goal
that an individual makes to a project or the reforming of a habit,
often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous."
                                                                                     -from Wikipedia

I've never really been one to set a New Year's resolution myself.  When I was little, we would all sit around the table on New Year's Eve and announce our resolution.  As a child, mine were usually things like; keep my room clean or get better grades.  The latter an easy one to keep since I was an A student!

I think it was probably in my teen years that I stopped making resolutions when I realized that the more detailed or in depth ones were much harder to keep.  I didn't, and don't, like to fail at things and so that reality made me cynical regarding the whole New Year's resolution "thing".

a mom blog communityFor 2011 I have decided to once again set New Year's resolutions.  Yes, that was plural as I have more than one (1).  First off, this post is coming to you as part of a resolution to blog more.  I have accepted the Blog Dare issued by Bloggy Moms.

My other resolutions include finishing, or at least getting caught up on, the family scrapbook; cooking and eating healthier; and being more financially responsible.

I hope you'll join me on my journey to keep my 2011 Resolutions.  I would love to hear what your resolutions are and how you plan on maintaining them.

Wishing you a very Happy and Prosperous
New Year!

  1. Tee hee when we were watching back to the future II the other night and started laughing really hard when we realized the year they go to in the future is 2015...Ummm that's 4 years away. Wow a lot is going to change! I am going to contact Mattel and see if I can be the first to do a review on the hover boards that are apparently going to be every where in 4 years LOL!

I am not sure how this happened but I wasn't a GFC follower until now! Shocking! I am now!

  3. Another Blog Dare blogger! I am thinking of it myself but I haven't understood yet what it's all about. I think the past 11years have gone quickly, too, even though a lot has happened in my life.

Here's to 2011being the best yet.
