Snowy Day Comforts

Today is a dark and gloomy day in Southern Ontario.  The weather forecasts a winter storm which will bring 10-15cm of snow today; the first real snowfall of the year for our area.

While many may complain about this grey day, I love it.  There's nothing better than turning on the fire and snuggling in with a good movie.  Today's movie of choice:  Eat, Pray, Love.  What a fabulously inspiring story.  I can't think of a better story that would empower women.  I truly feel uplifted and ready to take on any challenge life may throw at me after watching this movie.  I would strongly recommend it to anyone.

Now watching Eat, Pray, Love got me thinking about other movies that I've watched and loved.  I think my all-time favourite movie would be Indian Summer.  I don't believe it's a well-known movie; but, I love it and could watch it time and again.  I think the reason I love it so much is that it is filmed in beautiful Algonquin Park in Ontario.  Canadian landscapes are beautiful and there's nothing better than Northern Ontario in the Fall.  The colours are breathtaking.  The storyline is adult, dealing with failing marriages, grief and more; but, with cheesy lines and laughs mixed in.

My go-to movie for an immediate pick-me-up when I'm sick would be any of the Gidget movies.  Gidget, Gidget Goes Hawaiian or Gidget Goes to Rome.  They're old and well behind the times; but, for a quick bit of fluff they do the job!

So, what are your favourite movies?  Do you have a go-to film to make you feel better?  I'd love you to share your choices with me.

  1. I'm very much a chick flick girl- 27 Dresses, The Devil Wears Prada, Pride and Prejudice are some of my instant cheer ups!

  2. Would you believe I've never seen Pride & Prejudice? Maybe that's one I should look into watching.
