Scavenger Hunt

Last weekend, my Guide unit went on a Scavenger Hunt in downtown Toronto.  Our day started bright and early at 8:00 am when we headed off to the GO Train to ride the GO to Union Station.

For a couple of the girls, I think it was their first time on a train.  They could barely contain their excitement.

After singing our newly created unit song, to the tune of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, we began our hunt.

Our only instructions before arriving at the hunt had been to dress for the weather, wear good walking shoes and bring a camera.  So we had thought that we would need to find things around the city, take a picture with us and the found item as proof, and then email the photos in with our responses.
We were sadly mistaken.
The hunt, didn't turn out to be much of a hunt at all.  It was more of a history lesson.  There were approximately 70 questions, like "what year was Union Station, as it stands now, opened?"  I'm sorry; but, the whole point of the day was to have fun.  Not answer boring questions.  About half-way through, when we realized none of us were having fun, and we weren't going to have fun, we stopped following the hunt instructions and just made up our own!  We still managed to complete some of the tasks without even realizing it.  Like when we burst into "Kookaburra" on King St, in front of Canada's Walk of Fame!  The girls were very excited to learn about the female Canadians honoured on the Walk; but, of course they were super excited to find Nickleback!

Here are some pictures from our day!
