Day 1, Continues

So many things to see and do.  As first timers, we didn't really know where to begin.  I had booked our Magic Your Way passes online and had selected Fast Pass options for the day; but beyond that, I had NO CLUE what was a must see or the best order in which to do things.  A lot of the day was fly by the seat of our pants; but all in all, we had a blast.

One of the best parts about the time of year we chose to visit, everything was done up for Christmas.  For me, this made it extra special as I was able to combine my two most favourite things...Disney and Christmas.  Needless to say, I was in bliss!

Pickle was super excited to be meeting many of her favourite Disney characters; little did she know I had booked a fast pass for her to meet Ariel, her favourite Princess and who she was most looking forward to meeting!  Before that, we got in a few rides.  This is Pickle and I waiting for our fast pass time to ride Splash Mountain, our first ride of the trip!

Of course, it wouldn't be a trip to Disney without ears!  Pickle was the first to pick out the ones she wanted.

We took the train from Frontierland over to Fantasyland to be in the right place for our visit with Ariel.  Little did we know we'd actually see REAL wildlife on the train ride.  Two young deer actually crossed right in front of us.  Unfortunately, they were too quick for me to snap a photo; but the kids thought it was fantastic.

We made it!  Now onto the big moment...

I don't think Boo was too excited by all these meet and greets; but he was a good sport.  That smile for Pickle says it all.

Our day wouldn't be complete without some more rides.  While Pretty, Boo and I went to ride The Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride, Mr. Twingle and Pickle went to have some carousel fun of their own.

We rounded off the day with a couple more visits: Elsa and Anna and of course the main man himself MICKEY!!!

Overall, day 1 was a success.  We didn't get to see and do everything; mostly because it's impossible but also because we didn't really know what or where to go.  Good thing we have an extra day, as we got a 5 day park pass.  If we're up for it, I think another day at Magic Kingdom is required.

The Adventure Begins; Day 1

I don't know who was more excited for our first day at Disney.  After arrival yesterday, we checked out our AirBNB rental, got some groceries and took time to relax after the long travel day.  Our flight boarded; but, then was delayed almost 2 hours at the gate as customs was so backed up they held the plane.  Not a huge deal; but, for little people who have been up since 5am and are bursting with excitement, it makes for a long day.

Once we arrived in Orlando, we quickly found our bags and rental car and found the way to our home for the week.  I had received email directions on how to get there so we were armed with a plan.  First stop was lunch at the Olive Garden.  We were all famished by the time we got in and it happened to be the first restaurant we found that wasn't fast food.  No one complained as we all love it there.  Next, we found Super Target!  For us Canadians, this is a big deal.  Target tried and failed in Canada and we miss it.  Super Target was something we didn't have at all, and so it was awesome to check it out and pick up some things we'd need over the next week.

Finally, we got to our home.  We totally won the AirBNB gamble.  A great private house, with its own pool and games room, 4 bedrooms and 2 bathroom.  It was the perfect home away from home.  The kids didn't waste any time getting in the unheated pool that night.  But there was no way, I was getting in, lol.

In the morning, we had a big breakfast to start the day off right and then we were on our way.  We made a point of getting car selfies every morning to start our adventure.

As we were leaving our villa, as I guess the residences in and around Orlando are all their own little groupings, we saw Orlando wild life first hand with this really cool bird just grazing in the grass.  The thing was HUGE!
Our home was only a 20 minute drive from Disney which helped with the "are we there yet" comments from the kids. And what kind of scrapbooker would I be if I didn't take pictures of the signs along the way ;)

OMG, we made it!  I was practically bouncing in my seat.  Mr. Twingle may have told me a few times to simmer down, lol.

And We're Off...'s been two LONG weeks of anticipation and excitement by all in the Twingle household.  But we are finally off for our much awaited trip to Disney World in Florida!  The kids have never been on a plane before so they were super excited to take it all in; from the train ride into the terminal to watching for our plane to arrive at the gate.

I'm pretty sure the smiles say it all!  And, no, the dog and cat didn't come with us.  They got dropped off with Grandma & Grandpa on the way to the airport.

We're Going to Mexico?

I am a Disney girl!  Anyone that knows me, knows this.  Once I was old enough to start working and earning money, it went toward collecting Disney movies on VHS, many of which I still have and are now adored by the twingles.

However, I have never been to Disney World and/or Disneyland...until now!  Mr. Twingle and I have been talking about a trip to Disney for a few years and the timing just wasn't right.  Work, finances, life got in the way; but, this year we've decided to make it a priority and take the kids to Disney World, a first for all of us!

Mr. Twingle and I somehow managed to book the trip and get the kids their passports without them figuring it out!  We wanted to surprise them and I'm pretty sure we did!  Check out the video to see how it all went down!

Inside the boxes were mock boarding passes to Orlando, a photo of the house we rented through AirBNB and a picture of Magic My Way passes.

I Survived!

It's been just over a week since I completed the OneWalk for all cancers.  What an incredible experience.

As part of team RBC, we started our event with a team reception at RBC watermark place on Friday night; followed by a delicious dinner with good friends.

The morning came far too early.  Not only was it dark, it was WET!  Despite that, we were all in good spirits!  By mid morning, the rain had stopped and we were stripping off out rain ponchos.

Outside Princess Margaret hospital, walkers could sign the wall in support of those touched by cancer.  I added the name of my Papa, who passed away from bladder cancer; and, a close family friend taken far too young, from ovarian cancer.

Some refuelling for lunch and we were on our way.  I ended up with the worst Charlie horse in my calf for the last 7 or so kilometres, and while I inevitably slowed my team down, we got it done!  25km completed, all for a good cause!
